1) This image of a seashell utilizing side light was the best image I took for the dozen photo challenge. The utilization of side light highlights the many curves and crevices of the shell.
My environment was surrounded by different colors, lighting, and compositions, making it easy to find examples of each technique in the real world. However, the most challenging aspect of this challenge was to capture something truly worth documenting. I had trouble finding something I felt was genuinely interesting.
In the future to create stronger images, I plan to stop actively searching for something to document. Instead, I will allow the right image to come to me. When an image worth capturing presents itself in nature, I will be ready to take a picture of it and will have the skills to utilize different lighting and composition techniques.
Hi Nathan, great photo! I love the way you captured this nature shot. Your image really gives me the illusion that I was there while you took this photo. I can hear the water flowing, hitting the rocks, and I can feel the overcast weather and cold wind. I can also feel the peacefulness that this setting evokes. I like how you utilized this specific angle to include the reflection of the building in the water and the many layers of this viewpoint with the foreground and the background. One suggestion I have would be to brighten the trees in the background or increase the contrast to bring out their definition because their grayness makes the trees blend together.

Hi Saunders! I like how you used contrast to have the main focus pop out which is an off white shell that is on a black desk. The lighting that you used help add texture to the shell and the desk but I think that one thing that can help improve the image, is the if you can try and take a picture of the shell at a lower angle since it is an up close photo. https://creativediamond345.wixsite.com/michaellad-tabbi/blog
This photo is captivating with just one focal point its a great photo. The main subject is a shell sitting atop a dark desk. I enjoy the contrast between the light soft color of the shell compared to the dark smooth desk. The way you used the light to capture details of the shell are really nice. On the left side of the image the lighting is strong and it brings out the smooth texture of the shell. On the right side, the lighting is obstructed and it allows the viewer to notice the deep lines within the shell as well as the addition of color to the side of the shell. I think the exposure, contrast, and color saturation…
Nice photo Saunder! The first thing I was drawn to is the colors of the seashell. The soft colors add a calming feeling to the image. I really like how the light is facing the shell so we can see the texture and the intricate lines of the shell. The clear light makes me feel like it is fresh warm morning. Having this exposure was a great idea since many think of the beach as a peaceful and bright place, where seashells exist. It also allows it to reflect on top of the surface which I think enhances the focus of the photo. Having a head on perspective aids the viewer to the main subject in this image while the…
