Hi Nathan, great presentation! Your in-depth analysis of both the photographer and their work was excellent! I appreciated the background information you shared about James Welling, as well as two photographs that he captured. I liked the way you explained what was happening in each photograph and included your thoughts and feelings in the presentation. I especially liked his "Dark Matter" photograph, as he successfully captures a foggy and gloomy feel, using analogous colors. I think you analyzed Welling's photographs effectively to include information from Chapter 4 of Criticizing Photographs. One suggestion I have would be to include more examples of Welling's work. His photographs are incredible, however, I have a hard time comprehending his photographic style based on only two photographs!

Saunders, after watching your presentation on David Hurn, I have an excellent understanding of his photography journey. I loved your explanation of his photographic style being mainly black-and-white. I did my presentation on Sally Mann, who also captured moments without color as well. Your interpretation of the first photo of his works is excellent; I completely agree with the fact that the head-on perspective allows the viewer to get involved in the moment. Your description of each photo and how it made you feel was also very informative in learning more about Hurn.
Hello Saunders, your presentation on David Hurn provides a thorough exploration of the photographer's career, with a particular focus on his transition from photojournalism to a more personal style. The mention of Hurn's affiliation with Magnum Photography and the emphasis on candid and interesting photographs creates a clear context for understanding his work. Your presentation effectively highlights the theme of the Magnum Portfolio, centered around capturing intriguing moments in human life. Your selection of images from this collection allows the audience to interpret the significance of each moment captured by Hurn. Notably, your presentation successfully incorporates how some of David Hurn’s photographs are interpretive, demonstrating a thoughtful analysis of his work. Observing Hurn's photography through your presentation evokes curiosity and…
Hello Saunders, you did a really good job describing David Hurn's photographic style through your choices of his works and explanations. The way you described how he captured everyday human activities through black and white gave real meaning to his work as the viewer can picture himself or herself at the scene using and activating all the senses. In Hurn's work, I see him attempting to capture as much of the human experience as possible in a photograph. These pictures are a great portrayal of how "a picture is a thousand words" and in each of my future photos, I want each to tell a unique story. Hurn's photos make me feel a little sad as they reminder me that…
